Advancing Food justice, Food sovereignty, environmental and sustainable policies, land

acquisition, better nutrition and four season growing in Jefferson County Colorado. Participate in Collaboration to restore our food system. Advancing restoration activities to multiply synergy in access to nutritious foods. Look for

manifested improvements in the food supply chain. The challenge is that food, and the people

involved in growing and moving it, need to be valued for their contributions and benefits in

every step in the food chain.

Together we can bring much needed changes in a time sensitive model. This is called supply

and demand local foods year round in all four seasons increasing each year.

More work and best practices in the economics of the food system is much needed to have a

true food value system. Imbalance in the food system resulting from federal support for certain

commodities dates back to the foundation of the unjust commodities markets.

Leadership today must be a shared model where all are allowed to lead and be heard. We

believe in diversity and inclusive food systems programs.

Barbara Moore and Glenn Moore have a proven track record of shifting ag practices to build

organic food production capacity. Harvest Mountain Farm Gardens LLC was founded on a farm

plan that included growing in winter, summer, fall and spring. Their purchase of a 1500 sf

greenhouse was right at the start of their farm operation. Specialty crops included ove 1200

tomato plant starts and 50 varieties of produce and herbs. We grew and sold produce all year

round.

Four Season Growing and Winter Growing training manuals from Eliot Coleman were

instrumental in high capacity production year round. We also had an Expert Farmer coach from

the CSU Building Farmer program to guide our way. We are highly invested in Local foods

EDUCATION.

Urban Homestead Home Garden - We have a track record of growing in a production garden

model at our home over 50 tomato plants and other crops. We do plant starts using a hoop

house, indoor lighting and irrigation systems. We grow herbs inside our home in winter. We give

the produce to school families and motel communities and local pantries. Season Extension

education will be provided for all segments of our food culture and life. We will feature and utilize

tools and equipment necessary for season extension growing. Jefferson County needs to take

on a mentality that growing in zone 7 outside starts at the beginning of March, not June.

Barbara Moore took a course in Production Crops at CSU Ft. Collins to gain more knowledge for

best practice. Glenn and Barbara Moore had four years of very hard work growing vegetables in

what will help us help our community grow a stronger four season food system and grow in

capacity of local foods in cultivation year round.
